The first official television of the city of Venice
VeniceChannel broadcasts since March 2006

The last 13 March it has been presented at the Triennale of Milan VeniceChannel, the first television channel and production company for tv programs and DVD’s, completely made in HD (High Definition) with the aim of promoting and diffusing all around the world the cultural, territorial and economic values of Venice and of the Italian Lifestyle. It is a thematic channel, whose slogan is “the Essence of Italy, the Essence of Life”, and which exports the Venice brand and the Italian style all over the world: from culture to entertainment, art and travels, design and fashion, luxury and shopping. The project of the satellite tv was born two years ago from the idea of about twenty Italian entrepreneurs, mostly from the Veneto region, in order to promote the Italian Lifestyle and the Made in Italy in the world.

VeniceChannel SpA has therefore been set up, an independent company with private capital which, due to its strong tie with the territory, has signed with the Venice municipality a contract for the trademark license. Being partner of many different bodies, it will also produce documentaries on the main cultural events in the lagoon city. The company has already undersigned cooperation agreements with the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, local associations and the Arena of Verona Foundation.
VeniceChannel has been broadcasting since March 2006 and has two seats, - in Verona and in Venice – about thirty employees, an initial investment of about 2 million euros in equipment and 3 million euros in production, and it aims at having a turnover of about 3,5 million euros in 2006. “Within July we will have 500 hours of tv production – explained the managing director Fabrizio Zago -. We consider ourselves as a content factory, advertisement will not exceed 30% of the budget. We rely on the fact that we are the only Italian HD channel to distribute in the world, and we address first of all to China and India”.

The stock company, entirely private, has succeeded in “landing” in China thanks to a co-production with Shaanxi Tv, the Network of the Chinese province of Shaanxi (North-West of China), and also Sat channel visible in China, south-east of Asia, Australia, Europe and US. They are four specials, of fourteen minutes each, of the Chinese program “Hello”, produced in Chinese and English language, about Venice and the last edition of the Carnival 2006.
The programs of the satellite tv in HD goes from art to design, from kitchen to events, up to opera, a programming that does not only present persons, places and products, but that encourages, through the different formats, the audience to build his own Italian style by means of recipes, home furnishing and decoration tecniques, and with many different ways to enrich everyday life.
